The Physics SIG is a Special Interest Group of members of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (Inc). The Physics SIG also hosts the Nuclear Medicine Physics SIG of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM). The SIG reports to both the ANZSNM and ACPSEM executives.
In relation to the ACPSEM the SIG provides advice on matters pertinent to the interest group including advice on technical standards and training and accreditation. The SIG provides a focus for matters relating to the professional development of the sub-discipline.
Any financial member of the Society and /or College can join the Physics SIG as an Associate Member. Ordinary membership is open to practising nuclear medicine physicists who are financial members of the Society and hold a bachelor's degree suitable for admission to ordinary membership of the ACPSEM.
The primary objectives of the Physics SIG are:
to promote appropriate educational and professional standards for practicing nuclear medicine physicists
to provide opportunities for the continuing education of practicing nuclear medicine physicists
to promote communication between physicists and other professional groups within the Society and sector.
