Tc-99m Generator Advisory
Monday Sep 23, 2019 13:00hrs
Working Group members were advised by ANSTO today that there is an expected shipment of Mo-99 from NTP (South Africa) arriving on Monday afternoon. This will give around 40% of the normal amount that is usually available in Australia. The Mo-99 arriving today will be manufactured into generators on Tues and Wed for delivery on Wed and Thursday respectively. This week GMS and all regional and rural areas will receive generators, while metropolitan sites will mostly stay on supply from GMS. In total, up to nearly 90 generators will be dispatched this week.
Further Mo-99 from NTP is expected on Thursday and again over the weekend. As long as NTP reactor yields remain good and there are no logistical complications, the importation expected should see us nearly back to 100% of usual domestic availability next week.
We will provide an update for the following weeks as we receive the information.
At this stage ANSTO is still awaiting approval from ARPANSA for their plan to repair the ANM facility and to eventually bring it back on line.
