Update on Radiopharmaceutical Supply

Sunday July 12, 2020 18:00hrs

ANSTO Health advised the Working Group early this afternoon of a failure in production for the Sunday despatch of generators. The sites affected include metropolitan facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.

In addition to metropolitan customers who get an ANSTO generator directly, our understanding is that no generators are being delivered to all GMS sites, i.e., Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Therefore, available activity at all sites is critically impacted, with each state applying restrictions to doses.

GMS indicate extremely limited ability to provide bulk Tc99m, cardiac and bone doses for Monday 13 July as below:

  • GMS Sydney - no bulk Tc99m, no bone, no cardiac
  • GMS Brisbane - no bulk Tc99m, no cardiac, maximum of 1 bone dose per site.
  • GMS Perth - restricted number of bone doses, some ability to supply cardiac and bulk Tc99m
  • GMS Melbourne - no compounds except Antimony Colloid. 2 GBq Tc99m in the AM and PM runs to sites without a generator.
  • GMS Adelaide - no restrictions at this stage.

The Working Group will continue to meet with ANSTO as required and provide updates.
