Update on Radiopharmaceutical Supply
Friday 16th October, 2020 1800 hrs
The Working Group held a Vcon late this afternoon with ANSTO representatives.
ANSTO advised that a gross batch failure related to very high molybdenum breakthrough on the testing of today's generators has resulted in a halt in production. The cause for the batch failure is currently unclear and it is uncertain if this relates to the minor production issue earlier this week.
ANSTO are taking measures to manage production supply, including importing additional generators. However, at this stage there will be no generators available until at least Thursday 22nd October. It is advised that departments limit their bookings until this time as Tc supply will be significantly reduced until new generators are available.
This is a preliminary advisory statement. The situation is unfolding and we will provide further information as more details come to hand.
